Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics.

Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams - about the weight of a nickel - practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it's effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
The indications for Craniosacral are:
-
Headaches/migraines
-
Chronic fatigue,
-
Fibromyalgia
-
TMJ
-
Scoliosis
-
Neck and back pain
-
Stress related conditions
-
Anxiety and depression
-
Post trauma pain
-
Orthopedic conditions
-
General wellness and self care
Physical Therapy
Through my 20+ years of working as an Outpatient Physical Therapist I have seen a wide range of conditions. However, I have the most experience with conditions such as:
-
Headaches/migraines
-
Stress related conditions
-
Anxiety
-
TMJ
-
Neck and back pain
Please inquire if you have questions regarding a condition that is not listed and we can see if what I have to offer will be helpful.
I am specialized in the application and use of Craniosacral therapy as my primary mode of treatment. This is a gentle approach that I have used on joint pain, post surgery, and chronic conditions.
I also have implemented and used other modalities from classes including:
-
Tai Chi
-
Healing touch
-
Myofascial release
-
Soft tissue mobilization
TMJ Specialist
Evaluation consists of a standard Physical Therapy evaluation starting with an in depth conversation regarding your TMJ history, past medical history, and habits. Your posture is evaluated for asymmetries and fascial holding patterns. Range of motion of the jaw and surrounding body parts are assessed, as well as screening for neurological involvement.
What is different? I want to know more. I want to know about YOU and your life - what you feel comfortable sharing of course. To get a more complete picture, there are questions regarding your habits, lifestyle, family and work. I VALUE and practice strict confidentiality. What you are comfortable sharing is honored. I assess your whole body and aim to treat you holistically.
Specialized treatment of the TMJ is individualized to the needs based on the initial evaluation.
Treatment consists of a combination of the following:
-
Specific manual techniques including gentle soft tissue mobilization of intra-oral and extra-oral tissues and proximal joints
-
Craniosacral Therapy
-
At home exercise program for posture, ROM, and flexibility
-
Neuromuscular techniques to facilitate soft tissue release and sensation based awareness
Sensation-Based Motivational Coaching
Sensation-Based Motivational Coaching (SBMC) addresses the understanding and application of body mind wisdom and its role in emotionality. The basis of every pattern is a sensation and getting to the sensation can be much of our work. Awareness.
Sensations is raw data in our nervous systems, affecting what we think, what we say and how we act. What results are you seeing in your life? Are you running your life or is it running you? Not to control because we don't want to do that… but do you feel like sometimes things just keep happening and you don't know why? Or you keep feeling a certain way in certain circumstances and “don’t like it” but can’t stop? Sensation based motivational coaching may be the mode and method to gain clarity, access your subconscious, and create change.
